Transit Systems Region 6 bus operators earn record- breaking community praise
Australia’s largest multi-modal transport operator, Transit Systems, is proudly spotlighting the incredible work of its bus operators, following a steady stream of glowing praise from passengers across the network. The review of commendations comes as Transit Systems celebrates a record-breaking year of compliments being submitted.
Whether it’s a smile and greeting at the door, patience during busy periods or professionalism in challenging moments, passengers are noticing, and they are saying thank you. From young students and busy professionals to older commuters, the message is clear - a great bus operator can turn an everyday ride into a genuine and memorable experience.
Region 6 Transit Systems bus operator, Sam Yazbek, who receives one of the highest rates of positive praise from customer feedback, believes it is all about the energy you bring to each shift.
“A positive attitude helps all situations, coupled with a cheerful nature makes everybody happy as they board the bus,” Sam said.
“A smile, accompanied by a ‘good morning’ or ‘good afternoon’ to every passenger, just makes their day. Simply be cheerful.”
According to Sam, when handling difficult situations, you should simply stay cool, calm and collected while remaining assertive.
Fellow operator, Hendra Darmali, who also receives a remarkable volume of positive compliments says, “You must understand the nature of the job is not just driving, but also interacting with people.”
“Once you become content with the job and are happy, this comes through in providing good customer service. When dealing with difficult situations, you must not take it personally and help as much as possible, as most times the person has their own issues and are just taking it out on you.”
Transit Systems Recruitment Manager, Marcela Lucas, said the positive feedback received from the public is a direct reflection of the calibre of people behind the wheel.
“Hendra and Sam represent the very best of our team. They not only get you to your destination, but they also bring empathy, respect and positivity to the job,” she said.
Transit Systems NSW Customer Service Experience and Communications Manager Sarah Young said the bus operators set the tone for thousands of daily journeys.
“When passengers board and are greeted with a look or tone is warm and welcoming, it creates a ripple effect across the entire community and within our team.”
Transit Systems continues to invest in training and support to ensure drivers are equipped not only to navigate roads, but to handle real-life situations with professionalism and care.
